Texifornia

I wrote the script for this video based off of the rather well know dislike for Californians that exists in Austin. I had heard of this before as my friend Doug from the Denver area once either spoke/blogged of the somewhat anti Californian sentiments that can be found in his area.

With the size of the Los Angeles economy there are plenty of Californians to go buy up chunks of other states and raise the price of real estate. I have no evidence, I've just heard it from a number of realiable sources.

What's more is that almost anybody you ask will quote you the exact same opinion about Californians, which is usually not "They raise the price of real estate" but actually "They just try to make every place they go into California."

Then you ask how. "Um, like all bro-ey and stuff."

Hmmm. I still don't entirely get it. The property values stuff I totally get. As long as the land that's far enough from Austin city center that I can have chickens is still available for a reasonable price come house-buying time I'm fine. (No sprawl please!) But if my rent went up in 78704 that would definitely suck. I really like this location. I rode my bike to Sabine on 5th today and arrived in 21 minutes. By car it might have been 30 or so with parking. I'm 15 minutes from New Bouldin Creek (miss the old one) and about 8 minutes from Hey cupcake etc. These are all bike times of course. Affording to live here and have enough for a few goodies is nice. If someone is plotting my demise, I would fight them with fisticuffs.
